Manuel Gonzalez Garcia

Manuel is a graduate student at the Mechanical Engineering and Material Science department at Duke University pursuing the THRUST program. After one year at KTH Royal Institute of Technology, here at Duke he will be finishing his master’s degree.

Before starting major studies, he graduated from the Polytechnic University of Madrid with a major in Aerospace Propulsion systems. His final degree project was studying the worthiness of repairing versus substituting the components of a jet engine. Manuel has also performed two internships: one at ITP Aero as a maintenance repair and overhaul engineer for the EJ200 engine and this last summer one as a researcher for KTH, the topic of the internship was the mode shape tailoring of a composite compressor blade. In his free time Manuel enjoys cycling, running and above all travelling.

Research Interests

Regarding his research interests he is now focusing on the LASCADE project. This project concerns developing a linear compressor cascade test rig for the wind tunnel available at Duke University.
