Yash Nigam

Yash is a graduate student at the Mechanical Engineering and Material Science Department. He came after 1st year at KTH Royal Institute of Technology, Sweden for his 2nd year at Duke in the THRUST Master's Program. He did his Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering in India where he developed interest for Aerospace Propulsion. He has worked on three projects in Bachelors regarding turbochargers and tesla turbine. During bachelor he did his internship at Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) which is the Largest Aerospace Company in Asia where he has learned about Sukoi Su-30MKI engines and HAL Light combat helicopter engines. Also recently he finished his summer internship at KTH in collaboration with Siemens AB based on Cavity Purge Flow in HPT Turbines.His hobbies include Painting, Travelling, Gaming and Writing. 

Research Interests

His research interest lies in Micro Gas Turbines and Hybrid Propulsion System for UAVs. During his time at Duke, He will be working on developing a Micro Gas Turbine system for aerospace propulsion under the supervision of Dr. Robert Kielb.
