Sydney Beckett

Engineer at Boeing

Sydney Beckett is a junior from Denver, CO, studying mechanical and aerospace engineering at Duke University. In addition to research, Sydney is involved with the Innovation Co-Lab as a Bluesmith Lab Consultant, the Motorsports team as a frame sub-team member, the Women’s club basketball team, and Outdoor Adventures as a trip leader.

Research Interests

As a new member of the non-synchronous vibrations team, Sydney is assisting in testing and analysis of the NACA 0012 airfoil and linear cascade, ultimately understanding the lock-in phenomenon. More specifically, she is improving the experimental set up of the motor which controls the oscillation of the airfoil and linear cascade in these experiments. She will also create a pinning system for the airfoils and turbine blades for both projects.
